About Us

Dr. Gary Harbin is a practicing, board certified, orthopedic surgeon with over 25 years of experience in the field of sports medicine. As the founder and Medical Director of Occupational Performance Corporation, he directs the development of testing systems designed to measure functional human performance. In addition, he supervises research in the field of occupational medicine with an emphasis on injury prevention. Dr Harbin is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and is a frequent national speaker. For over twenty years, Dr. Harbin has dedicated his research to understanding and measuring human functional performance in the workplace. He has several published articles in the American Journal of Industrial Medicine and is in the process of completing additional articles dealing with his findings from the occupational database. He is also actively involved in creating new methods of measuring human musculoskeletal and neurological skills.

In 1988 at the request of industries, Dr. Harbin made a substantial investment of time to review the literature and respected testing methods regarding the reduction of work place injuries, which developed a company called Occupational Performance Center (OPC). OPC is a network of independently owned testing facilities located across the Midwest utilizing The Physical Capacity Profile® (PCP) Testing System.

The PCP Testing System helps occupational and human resource professionals place employees in the appropriate job to minimize the potential of injury, while documenting each employee’s physical capacity and impairments. It is a comprehensive testing procedure that documents an employee’s physical skills and AMA-related impairments with a database composed of more than 60,000 tests.
